Fire Engineering is an applied science using first principles and engineering judgment to afford life safety, asset protection, business continuity against the harmful and destructive effects of fire, smoke and hot gases.

The time taken from the ignition of a fire and the onset of life-threatening conditions in a building is known as the Required Available Egress Time (RSET). The maximum time that occupants have to exit to a safe location including factor of safety over RSET is known as Available Safe Egress Time (ASET).

Occupants escaping from a building may be hindered by smoke and hot gases from a credible fire scenario. We use best practise, knowledge of fire growth, principle of smoke migration in buildings and engineering judgement to anticipate their impact on evacuation path and ensuring tenable conditions are met using quantifiable techniques.

We offer 2D zonal models and spreadsheet calculations, all in compliance to current Singapore Fire Safety Engineering Guidelines (SFSEG).

Beyond the capabilities of zonal models and simple algorithms allowed for simple and smaller geometries under SFSEG, we can overcome limits with Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) modelling to extend designs to cover larger, more complex buildings with better in-depth analysis on smoke layer temperature, visibility and various gas species for fire models. We also offer in-depth analysis of phased or simultaneous evacuation, evacuation to area of refuge, by lifts and assisted evacuation for hospitality projects.

We utilize high performance servers and licensed softwares to carry out advanced fire and evacuation simulation techniques that provide quantifiable outcome to render visualisation our design works, as well as integral fire/ evacuation technique for high rise and high occupancies/ high risk areas.
